The Vannevar Verandah at Frontier House
Frontier House DC · Member Use

Don't Wait for Something to Be Scheduled.

Frontier House is not valuable only when there is an event on the calendar.

The House is there for members to use.

  • Have breakfast.
  • Bring someone in for coffee.
  • Put six people around a lunch table.
  • Meet between Hill appointments.
  • Host a happy hour.
  • Start a monthly gathering.
  • Record a conversation.
  • Create a tradition.

Make the House yours.

260

Workdays. Use them.

There are roughly 260 federal workdays in a year.

That means hundreds of possible breakfasts, lunches, coffees, conversations, meetings, and happy hours that can happen at Frontier House because a member decided to make one happen.

  • You do not need a famous speaker.
  • You do not need fifty people.
  • You do not need an elaborate concept.

You need a reason to bring people together.

FHDC can help with the rest.

A room at Frontier House in the morningMorning

Start the day here.

  • Meet someone for coffee.
  • Bring a few people together for breakfast.
  • Start a recurring morning group.
  • Use a quiet room before the first meeting of the day.

Six people. Coffee. Breakfast. One good conversation.

A table at Frontier HouseMidday

Put lunch on the table.

  • Skip the crowded restaurant.
  • Bring together colleagues, fellow members, visiting friends, veterans, investors, founders, public servants, or people who simply ought to know one another.
  • A lunch does not need a program.

Sometimes eight seats and a reason are enough.

A meeting room at Frontier HouseBetween Meetings

Meet somewhere that feels like your own.

  • Use the House for an appropriate one-on-one conversation or small meeting.
  • Sit down between Capitol Hill appointments.
  • Prepare for the next one.
  • Have the conversation that would otherwise happen in a hotel lobby, coffee shop, or hallway.
The Patton Patio at Frontier HouseAfter Work

Bring people together before everyone goes home.

  • Host a small happy hour.
  • Welcome someone visiting Washington.
  • Reconnect with friends.
  • Celebrate a promotion.
  • Mark a retirement.
  • Gather your old unit.
  • Bring an alumni group together.
  • Put an interesting question in front of ten people.

Not everything needs to become an “event.”

Make It Recurring

The real opportunity is repetition.

A one-time gathering is useful.

A tradition is better.

A member can propose a recurring breakfast, lunch, discussion group, social gathering, or other appropriate activity subject to House availability and approval.

MonMonday morning coffee.
TueTuesday lunch table.
WedWednesday discussion.
ThuThursday happy hour.
FriFriday breakfast.
  • The examples do not matter.
  • The habit does.

Depending on the activity and available staff support, FHDC may assist with:

Space
Selecting an appropriate room, date, and time.
Setup
Basic seating and room arrangements.
Invitations & RSVPs
Appropriate coordination for approved gatherings.

The Guardrails

Frontier House is a private social club.

Member activities must be consistent with that purpose.

Guests must comply with applicable House and event policies, and the sponsoring member is responsible for them.

Group gatherings, reserved spaces, catering, and special requirements should be coordinated in advance.

Availability depends on existing House activity, staffing, scheduling, and operations.

FHDC is not a commercial event-rental venue, lobbying platform, or client-prospecting service. Activities may not be used for prohibited solicitation, commercial development, or preferential government access.

Tomorrow's breakfast table is empty until someone fills it.

Don't wait for the House to give you a reason to come in. Create one.
